Ah, Thanksgiving. A two day work week, followed by an overdose of carbs, football games, and risking life and limb to shop at the crack of dawn on Black Friday. Also, there’s the whole being thankful thing, too.
Here are a few resources I found that you might find useful in your classes next week.
This is an amazing interactive experience where kids learn about what’s real and what’s myth about the Thanksgiving story. It’s a saved version of the website, so you don’t have to worry about the connection being slow next week when everyone is checking it out. Save the above file to your desktop, extract it, and click on “Start_Here.html”. There’s also a worksheet to guide kids through it if you choose to do it at a lab, for instance.
SMART Notebook Files
These files are probably on the “too easy” end of the spectrum, but could easily be adapted to the appropriate grade level.
